bloated more than normal? it’s time to check in on your gut
are you dealing with post-lockdown gut?
heightened stress levels, more or less sleep than usual, extra snacking, extra caffeine, extra alcohol – they’re all gut enemies in their own right, but combine some (or all) of them together and it could be the reason you’re experiencing some tummy troubles.
these changes in our diet, stress levels and our environment all lead to changes in our microbiome, which as a result, impacts our gut function and overall health.
how do you know if something isn’t right?
bloating, gas, burping, cramping and a change in your stools (frequency and formation) are clear signs your gut is struggling. fatigue, joint pain and skin breakouts are other signs that your microbiome may be out of whack.
what can you do about it?
if you've been feeling some of the symptoms above and think they may be a s a result of a change to your diet and lifestyle then you might want to address some of he following:
+ be more mindful when you’re eating, eat slowly and chew properly.
+ include fibre-rich foods such as vegetables, whole grains and try and include plenty of nuts, seeds.
+ give fermented foods a go, like kefir and sauerkraut as these help feed the beneficial bacteria in your gut.
+ check your eating habits - most of us either comfort eat or don't eat at all when stressed. yet both will lead to an unhappy gut, so be mindful to focus on nourishing your body with whole foods (and leave the processed foods out where possible).
+ keep hydrated.
+ move more to kickstart your insides and help release those feel good endorphins. even a gentle walk can help move that uncomfortable feeling of a full belly.
+ include 3 Belly Blends a day to feed your gut lining and reap the benefits of gelatin and collagen (your skin will love you too).
